Tesla service centers may start using some non-OEM parts

A small procurement change with a long tail for body shops and insurance.

Tesla is opening the door to some non-OEM parts in service centers. Not structural castings. Not Autopilot cameras. Think the unglamorous catalog: interior trim, certain glass, commodity fasteners, maybe lighting assemblies that already have a healthy aftermarket.

Why now: wait times. Why it matters: insurance total-loss math and the resale story of “never been in an independent shop.” If Tesla is the one installing the aftermarket part, the “OEM only” brag gets fuzzier.

Ask for the part number on anything you care about. The app’s service history is the record. Use it.
