Tesla will offer Robotaxis during service instead of loaners

A service-center policy change hiding in an app toggle.

Tesla is testing Robotaxi rides as the replacement for a service loaner. The app copy is polite. The logistics are not simple.

If your car is in for a multi-day repair in a city with a live Robotaxi or Cybercab fleet, the app can offer rides rather than a Model Y with a service plate. That is cheaper for Tesla and, for some owners, better than a loaner with 40,000 miles of detailer residue.

If you are not in Austin, the Bay Area, or whatever city Tesla lights up next, you will not see the toggle. Mobile service does not get a cab. Collision centers still need a car you can load a car seat into. This is a city-center policy, not a national one.
